Our story
- 2018
The IHDC adventure began in the summer of 2018, quite simply, as a private camp in Leukerbad. Around the children of Pascal Schaller and Alain Favre, a few relatives and friends came together with the same wish: to spend a week of hockey built on sharing, progress and fun.
- 2019
The idea grew. During the off-season, Alain, working with Pascal and Dany Gelinas, launched the Saturday “private practices” in Fribourg. The concept was flexible and stimulating: an à la carte programme and, every week, a guest coach bringing young players new approaches and new perspectives.
- 2020
Pascal and Ilya Khanenko joined forces to give the initiative real scope. The first official IHDC edition took place in Champéry: a founding step that confirmed the project’s potential.
- 2021
Driven by the experience and enthusiasm of that first edition, the team got organised. A proper committee was formed, joined by Nathalie Schaller and Nathalie Favre, whose skills complemented those of the founders and strengthened the camp’s organisation. The new edition, held in Leukerbad, confirmed their determination to carry on, despite uncertainty at the time about the facilities available in the following years.
- 2022–2025
IHDC settled in Engelberg for four consecutive editions. In this exceptional setting, surrounded by outstanding people, the organisation developed its concept. Working with Dany Gelinas, it introduced individual coaching and player profiling. Each year became a new opportunity to modernise the camp, enrich its programme and give young players an ever more complete experience.
- 2026
The 2026 edition marked a new turning point. Ilya stepped down as skills coach, and a shift in school holidays in the canton of Fribourg forced the committee to look for an ice rink available on new dates. After several months of preparation, a new edition finally took place in Brig. Kevin Parada joined as the new skills coach, and Sébastien Magnin strengthened the team for the planning and coordination of camp operations. All these changes opened a new chapter, with the ambition of making it the best edition since IHDC began.
Today, the IHDC story is still being written. The committee is already looking forward to the next editions and has plenty of ideas to develop this week of life and sport. Its goal has been the same since day one: to give every participant a strong, enriching and unforgettable experience, on the ice and off it.
Best regards,
The committee
